Parent Participation Policy
Parents are expected to participate in
the operation of the school by completing tasks that are directly related
to the school program or the school grounds or that provide professional expertise
in support of the same. We expect this commitment to equal approximately 35
hours per year. Parents may choose a variety of tasks and several tasks may
be shared, as long as you complete the total commitment. Five hours are required from each family
for our annual auction.
Parents may opt to pay an extra $30.00
per tuition payment in place of participating as a volunteer, although this
is not encouraged.
There are descriptions of the Board of
Directors and other parent participation tasks in order for you to make an
informed decision.
If you need more information about the
various tasks, please talk to our Parent Participation Coordinator, or the
director. You are encouraged to contact the Parent Participation
Coordinator as soon as possible to indicate your preferences as some jobs
may already be assigned. The Parent Participation Coordinator will begin
calling parents for their job preference in July. We would like all jobs assigned by
August 1.
The Parent Participation Coordinator
will contact parents during the year if the parent participation tasks are
not being adequately completed. Parents who fail to complete their task(s)
will be assessed the "in lieu" participation fee of $30 per month
or $300 per year.
Work Days will be scheduled as needed,
typically once in early Fall and once in Spring. Each family is expected to
participate in at least one Work Day, which is a contribution of support
that is counted as a part of parent participation.
Thank you for your help in fullfilling
our vision of being a cooperative school by donating your time to Redbud Montessori.
