Dinosaur Summer Camp Adventures!

¨        What is a Dinosaur? Week 1  6/23-27

Millions of years ago, long before there were any people, there were dinosaurs.  Dinosaurs were reptiles and most hatched from eggs.

¨        Mesozoic Era            Week 2  6/30-7/3

The Mesozoic Era was the time from 248 million to 65 million years ago.  The Mesozoic Era is divided into three periods, the Triassic, the Jurassic, and the Cretaceous.

¨        Biggest, Fastest, Smallest      Week 3  7/7-11

The biggest dinosaurs were gigantic, slow-moving and had a tiny head.  The fastest dinosaurs were bird-like carnivores that ran as fast as an ostrich.  The smallest dinosaurs were less than two feet long.

¨        Plant or Meat Eater?          Week 4  7/14-18

Most dinosaurs were plant-eaters (also called herbivores).  Some dinosaurs were meat-eaters (also called carnivores).

¨        Skeletons/Fossils      Week 5  7/21-25

Dinosaur fossils have been found all over the world.  When the skeleton is analyzed, scientists can discover the dinosaur’s way of life and death.

¨        Paleontologists/Museums    Week 6  7/28-8/1

Paleontologists are scientists that study dinosaurs’ fossil remains.  When dinosaur’s are displayed in museums, they are made to come to life in people’s imaginations.

¨        Extinction            Week 7  8/4-8

Dinosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago.  No one knows why, but it could have been because of the environmental changes brought about by an asteroid hitting the earth, an enormous flood or perhaps a volcanic eruption.

Redbud's summer program is not run as a Montessori classroom, but the guiding principles of Maria Montessori's theories are in place. Encouragement in respect of others and yourself is supported as the daily guidelines we follow during the academic year are implemented.

With all of our Montessori materials put away for the summer, Redbud kids will enjoy water play, gooey art projects, and cooking.

Summer Camp begins one week after the academic school year ends and continues for seven weeks.  Parents may sign up their children for one, two or all of the weeks. Currently enrolled children have first priority to sign up for Summer Camp.  After March 1, enrollment is open to incoming and/or waiting list children and children in the community.  Children are enrolled at 2 years nine months and potty-trained through 6 years 11 months.

Enrollment in Summer Camp does not guarantee enrollment for the school year.

FULL DAY -- 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. -- $218 per week

MORNING CARE -- 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. -- $189 per week

EXTENDED CLASS ONLY -- 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. -- $181 per week

CLASS ONLY -- 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. -- $171 per week

HALF-DAY -- 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. --$150 per week (half-day option is only offered during summer camp).

Summer tuition is divided into two equal payments after subtracting a $100 deposit and is due and payable on the 1st of July and August.

Late Pick-up Policy/Fees after 6:00 p.m.

Our staff should be able to leave immediately at 6:00 p.m. Any Redbud employee who must stay after 6:00 p.m. with a child must be personally reimbursed at the time the child is picked up, at the rate of $20.00 per child for each 15 minutes or portion thereof.

Late Pick-up Policy; Other Times

Parents who have contracted to pick up their child at 12:30, 2:30, or 3:00 p.m. will be allowed a ten minute grace period, as long as this is not a regular occurrence. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, there will be a late fee of $10.00 for each 15 minutes or portion thereof, payable to Redbud. Parents will be billed for late fees. These late fees are designed to limit late pick-ups to real and infrequent emergencies. Please call the school whenever possible to let us know if you will be late. Consistent lateness is stressful for the child and inconsiderate to the staff.

Other Fees

There is a $25.00 non-refundable waiting list fee per child, per year (renewable each January 15), to be on the waiting list. This fee is not applicable toward other fees and does not guarantee placement in the school. A one-time application fee of $75.00 per child is due upon offer of enrollment into Redbud's summer or academic year program. Drop-in fees are $6.00 an hour for currently enrolled children.
